As usual I have a few projects on the go and I juggle my workload to fit in with my clients, whilst I await content to arrive, a bit like a builder managing different projects waiting for materials to arrive onsite. It’s always a great feeling to get a new website launched, even more so when the client leaves a great review on Google.
Local self-defence club Pure Krav Maga Kent needed a new website with a Content Management System (CMS) that allows them to manage and edit their own content. After settling on a responsive WordPress theme I put the site together for them using WordPress. As you may already know ‘responsive’ websites are extremely important in this day and age, because they automatically adjust to fit whichever device is being used to view the website. Therefore someone viewing a responsive website on a smart phone (an iPhone for example) will see the website without having to zoom in or scroll left to right. If the device is turned from portrait to landscape, the website layout will automatically adjust to ensure optimal viewing is presented for that specific device. It’s also worth bearing in mind that most web searches are now done via mobile devices than traditional PCs or laptops.
The main benefit of a CMS for a client is that, by enabling them to log-in and edit existing content or add new pages, blog entries and images to their website without any intervention from an experienced web developer, they save themselves having to pay when it comes to maintaining their website and keeping the content fresh and up-to-date. Search engines love fresh content as much as regular website visitors do. I think it’s safe to say that nobody wants their website to become stagnant and therefore lose the interest of potential customers, fans or especially Google.
Richard Allin-Jones of Pure Krav Maga Kent left the following feedback:
Having engaged Ashford Web Services to build online platforms, develop commerce sites and advise on integrating social media marketing, I have found their knowledge, competence and professionalism to be first rate.
Although AWS are tech experts, they are friendly, engaging and give helpful advice without resorting to industry jargon. They can take an idea all the way to a full service online presence and provide continuous support and I thoroughly recommend working with them.
Although WordPress is a relatively easy-to-use web development tool, it’s still beneficial for the developer to have knowledge of PHP, HTML and CSS – all of which enables additional tweaks to be made to the theme for the client that are not necessarily available via the theme manipulation front-end. These skills have come in extremely handy for every WordPress website I have built. In my opinion WordPress is a fantastic tool that I aim to be using to develop many more new websites with.
